25th of April – Faroese Flag Day

25 of April is Faroese Flag day. The day that the Faroese flag was approved. The flag is called Merkið. Colors are white,blue and red – for the snow, sea and blood.
This day is celebrated with a march, speaks and other activities.

This is also originally the first day that the Faroese Competition rowing boats are floated every year. although now they are often floated earlier on the year. But to honor the tradition the rowing club in Runavik had an event with all the boats.

My brother is with the rowing club. And rowing is btw the national sport in The faroe Islands.

Being a sheep farmer is busy work these days, with all the lambs being born. My father sure knows about that.

Even Lady had to take a bath and get cleaned up on Flag day.
