After reading some articles and recommends about what to do in Vancouver, we noticed that most of them mentioned Granville Island as the place to go. So we did!
And I can definitely see why people would recommend this place.
All of their fresh pastries and food looked amazing.
Our first stop was the Granville Island public market. It was a unique experience since we don’t have markets in the Faroe Islands nor do we really fresh fruit for that matter. And here you could find every fresh food thinkable in one place.
Unfortunatly I wasn’t feeling that well so even tough everything looked and smelled delicious I couldn’t really get my self to eat anything. I wish I did though because i’m sure I really missed out.
However the experience was like nothing else and I would recommend everyone to go there if you find yourself in Vancouver. And unlike us you should definitely try some pastries.
We did however try some local Grandville Island beers. John is a bit of a Beer enthusiasts. Not that he drinks much beer, but he likes trying new kinds of beer and used to collect beers from all over. He hqs about 150 unopened beers from all over the world in his old room in Hósvík.
So we visited the Grandville Island brewery for some samples. The atmosphere was really cool and surprisingly the beers were pretty good to- even for me a non beer drinker. John especially liked the Ginger one. So we would like to give the Brewery ***** stars for their sevice, prices and ofc beers. A really good place to visit on Granville Island.
There were a lot of different specialty shops on the Island but most of them didn’t allow pictures. Even a shop specializing in making handmade brooms.
Also a lot of artwork was all around. From hand carved sculptures, glass to paintings. Some neat work.
All in all a good day that turned out really beautifully. With the sun comming out on our walk home.
We ended our nigth baking chocolate/mint cake with fresh strawberries and cream cheese frosting on top. And talking for hours to our couch surfing hosts, just having a laid back good time.
