Yesterday Amber brought us with her to help some friends at a bug cattle ranch. It was an awsome experience and actually a little bit like sheep farming only much bigger ofcourse.
They had over 120 beef cows, some Jersey cows for milking and 6 big bulls.
John was clipping old eartags out and later in putting new tags on the hefers. ( Cows that haven’t had their first baby’s yet)
And I was handling one of the vaccines, putting the vaccination under the skin, inbetween the skin and the muscles on the neck.
It reminded me of when we vaccinat the sheep at home. But however cows are way stronger and harder to handle since they are so big.
The bulls where huge!! Iv’e never seen anything like it.
This weekend we are going over to Judy’s farm again to help with the branding of the calves. We are looking forward to see how it’s done and help with wathever we can. It’s supposedly going to be an experience of a lifetime.
Me and John really like it here at Helena Lake and are happy we took the opportunity. It’s almost like living in a fairytale, this place is extremely beautiful and uniqe.
And we are starting to fit in and learning how to do most of the stuff that needs to be done.
Oh yeah and I forgot to tell you this in my last blog. But within the first hour of gettig here on Sunday we saw a snake! And john even held on to it. It wasn’t a poisons snake but still, a real wild snake. They are kinda scary.
