Our last day in Victoria was expected truly spectacular. It was actually also our last day in Canada – which is pretty sad, we really have enjoyed Canada.
And Victoria has been really amazing too.
Everything is just so beautiful and spectacular.
Even though we didn’t end up going whale watching. A thing Vancouver Island is known for. The people sure are proud of their orcas.
But instead we went to fisherman’s Warf.
A really unique and fun part of the city.
With lots of houseboats.
And yes it is a fisherman’s warf so everything has something to do with the ocean and fisheries.
We heard about the many seals that usually come there every day, but we actually got a bit worried we wouldn’t see them. We went looking and there wasn’t any sign of seals.
Until we got back to where we started. Then we got really close up to tree of them. Aren’t they adorable?
Good thing the orcas didn’t eat those ones. The water taxi driver told us that just two years ago some whales came all the way in to fisherman’s warf to eat seals.
This seagul was waiting for some food. Unfortunately for this guy the seals stole all of the attention.
Fisherman’s warf is also know for it’s fish and chips, so we had to try. But I have to say I didn’t like it that well – Couldn’t even come close to our fish at home.
But we enjoyed just walking arround and seeing all the different funny items.
After all that walking john enjoyed a relaxing massage, we sure needed it.
Our day ended with some truly amazing hospitality at one of our previous couch surfers parents home.
Shelly and Bill picked us up at the hotel and drove along the sea side to their house, where they had prepared dinner.
And oh gosh was the dinner good! Onion/tomato soup as a starter, followed by Salmon that Bill had caught himself and Blueberry pie for desert. I loved every thing about it and the nigth was perfect. We are really thankful that we got invited and got to meet such amazing people.
Canadians truly are the friendliest people in earth, without a doubt:)
